The 2004 NCSS Standards are applicable to programs reports submitted through 2019. A new set of National Standards for the Preparation of Social Studies Teachers were approved in Fall 2017. Programs can only use the 2004 Standards through Fall 2019. Beginning in Spring 2020 programs submitting initial reports must use the 2017 Standards. Programs can begin using the NCSS 2017 Standards in Spring 2019 if two (2) applications of data have been collected.
